Now I'm Baffled

By now, you've probably heard or read something about Congressman Murtha's statement calling for the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq. Following is the entire statement from the White House Press Secretary:
Congressman Murtha is a respected veteran and politician who has a record of supporting a strong America. So it is baffling that he is endorsing the policy positions of Michael Moore and the extreme liberal wing of the Democratic party. The eve of an historic democratic election in Iraq is not the time to surrender to the terrorists. After seeing his statement, we remain baffled -- nowhere does he explain how retreating from Iraq makes America safer.
Really, Scotty? You need that explained to you? OK, well for starters, US troops are Americans. Taking them out of Iraq removes Americans (them) as targets of the al Qaeda suicide squad that has made Iraq it's newest fishbowl barrel theatre of operations. (Not to mention that it gives less moral authority to the insurgency and thus makes Iraq safer for Iraqis.)

Furthermore, it is an exercise in good faith to the Muslim people. Additionally, it makes America look less emperialistic. Both of which are actions which undermine the idea of Jihad. As for your idiotic screed against Michael Moore, fuck you. Moore was right and you know it.
